Dear All
This is an update and overview of the Deep sea Water Cooling project With this information you should better understand the project and the problems that we face the pumps are both installed and working great 90% of the DSWC trenching is in but very little is covered or insulated.
The system is designed to use the sea water directly and not go through a heat exchanger .the water at 300m depth and 3.1 km distance is 12.85 degree
To assure that the water temperature is a cold as possible when we need it. It must meet the following criteria:
- the water must the pumps and go into the distribution system as soon as possible . I have allowed 30 minutes with a flow rate of 3000 1/min
- the flow rate must be maintained and the water must go into the distribution system at a pressure of 4 bars and be gated equal in all of the 5 branches/phases.
- the system can be balanced only after it is completely installed. Every fan coil unit will get a portion of water. This will maintain the flow in the branch circuits so the speed of the water through the system is maintained. I allow five to fifteen minutes on these branches. Depending on the length.
- All of the pipe in the trenches must be insulated with redgy foam (recycled Styrofoam from the fresh food deliveries) on all sides and the concrete covers put in place. This will help keep the temperature low until it reaches the units.
- the system will not work until it is finished on june the 7th we tried the system. This is why it did not work as expected.
- the flow rate was not high enough to get the intake water down to 14 degrees
- In an attempt to get the flow rate up we diverted water to the bore wells. This lowered the pressure at the manifold where the branch ends terminate and also robbed water from the unites we were testing.
- The water temperature did reach 16 degrees at the pumps. But the flow rate did not get up to the necessary volume to get any lower temperature .
- The water temperature did go to 16 degrees at an open butt by midhuniye restaurant , but this lowered the pressure at the unit and therefore the flow rate through the unit was to low .
- A pump works to its best efficiency when the head pressure is at or just below a peak efficiency point.
- the unit operation:
- To have this system at its peak operating efficiency we must have all of the units installed.
- To have the system work as designed all buildings must be seal so at least light does not shine through.
- All louvers must be sealed shut.
- Cracks around doors and window must be sealed
- we must finish all of the units installations and balance the system the units are designed to work at 101/min of 15 degree water each.
The final answer will come when all of this is completed. At the present rate this will be four months We are presently installing units at the rate of five in five calendar days we are not able to work every day so the average now is about 21 per month
To date we have installed 24 units in 18 villas this should go up to 50per month while doing the host accommodations As the esthetics of Guest unit installation take longer
We have a total of 276 units left to install 76 will be used fore guest we will be able to install the rest of the guest units in 3.5 months and the host units in 3 months
I’m searching for another carpenter team and this will cut the total time in half with two teams so in the best case it will be 14 weeks for total completion
The reason it takes so long
